When I began my fertility journey in 2011, I had no idea how much I didn't know about pregnancy and birth. Like so many people who start down the path of having a baby, I had well-meaning friends and family members who came out of the woodwork to tell me the most horrifying stories about their births or "through-the-grapevine" tales of so-and-so's uncle's mother's cousin, who said giving birth was the all-time worst experience of their life.
I couldn't help but wonder, "If that's the case, why do so many people keep doing it?"
My sister-in-law, who bravely went before me into the world of parenthood, was my Morpheus. (Honestly, it's best we just go ahead and get the fact that I'm a huge nerd out in the open now.) She stood before me with the red pill (Ina May's Guide to Childbirth and The Business of Being Born) in one hand, and the blue pill of "everything I didn't know" in the other. Needless to say, I went down the rabbit hole...and here we are ;)
I read, I watched, I took the Hypnobabies® childbirth class and went on to have two amazing birth experiences (which you can read more about here). I even went through instructor training so that I could teach others how to use hypnosis for birth! But I noticed that most of the time, people would just look at me like I offered them a ticket to crazy town when I'd mention the program I used for my births. I know...it's not for everyone, but that didn't stop me from wanting to be able to share all of my knowledge with everyone anyway. That's when I heard about the Evidence Based Birth® Instructor training program.
As I'm sure you've guessed, I LOVE to learn (I'll choose the red pill every time) and EBB was already one of my favorite resources to direct people toward when they had questions about birth options.
